Energy At The Crossroads – Again?

REAL Houston hosted an evening of conversation and networking on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at The Briar Club, bringing together members and industry leaders to discuss the future of the energy industry.

The event featured a fireside chat with GGS Energy CEO Dave Ramm, one of the pioneers in renewable energy, moderated by REAL Houston Board Chair Kay McCall. Drawing on decades of experience across solar, wind, energy storage, and infrastructure, Dave shared insights on the evolution of the industry, lessons learned, and opportunities for the future. Guests also enjoyed networking, refreshments, and discussion before and after the program.

Speaker bio:

David Ramm (Dave) is currently the CEO of GGS Energy, a Houston based energy transition project development company employing several power generation and storage technologies. He was the Chairman and CEO of BrightSource Energy, the leading global provider of solar thermal energy technology and continues to serve as Chairman and CEO of  BrightSource US based spin off Kelvin Energy. Dave is also the Managing Partner of Dymar Development, a Houston based energy development and consulting company.

In 2002, Dave co-founded DKRW Energy LLC, an energy infrastructure development company which developed 700 megawatts of U.S. wind energy, is active in natural gas infrastructure development for northwest Mexico and was the U.S. leader in the commercialization of coal-to-liquids conversion processes. He previously served as president, CEO and director of NYSE traded Integrated Electrical Services, president of Enron Wind Corporation, managing director of Enron Renewable Energy Corporation and held senior management roles at United Technologies Corporation including VP of Marketing and Sales for Otis Elevator and Chairman and CEO of UTC Fuel Cells. Prior to beginning his civilian career, Dave served nine years of active duty as a U.S. Army officer.

Dave holds an M.S. in Management from the Sloan School at MIT, an M.B.A. from Long Island University’s Roth School of Business and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Dave is a past member of the External Advisory Committee for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory and is a current member and past Chairman of the President’s Energy Advisory Board at the University of Houston.
