REAL Houston hosted SunZia: The Inside Story on Thursday, June 4, at 888 Westheimer Rd., Suite 350, in Houston, bringing together industry leaders for an exclusive conversation on one of the most ambitious energy infrastructure projects in U.S. history.
Guests enjoyed breakfast and networking before hearing from Pattern Energy Chief Executive Officer Hunter Armistead, who shared insights into the development and construction of SunZia—the largest renewable energy project in the United States. The discussion explored the project’s vision, regulatory and infrastructure challenges, execution, and the long-term impact of delivering hundreds of miles of transmission and renewable generation.

Hunter Armistead, Chief Executive Officer, Pattern Energy Mr. Armistead serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Pattern Energy. He co-founded Pattern Energy with Mike Garland in 2009. Mr. Armistead oversees all aspects of Pattern, with a special focus on strategy, growth, capital formation, and company culture.
Previously, Mr. Armistead served as Pattern’s Chief Development Officer where he had responsibility for all development and origination activities and broad responsibility for business development operations. He led global business development efforts, including construction, engineering, and major equipment procurement.
Prior to joining Pattern Energy, Mr. Armistead spent 10 years overseeing Babcock & Brown’s North American renewable energy business, including development, construction, and operations. In previous roles, he led financing efforts for Edison Mission Energy and developed multiple facilities for Conoco.
Mr. Armistead holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rice University and is based in Houston.
