Gerry Willinger

Gerry Willinger, Managing Director, is based in Marathon Capital’s Houston office. Gerry has spent the last 20+ years in the energy space where he has been a CEO and Investor , and has developed, acquired, and financed gas gathering, processing facilities, and cryogenic gas plants. He has operated over 1,000 wells and related pipeline infrastructure, as well as originated and managed a portfolio of approximately $2.0 billion in energy-related investments in equity, debt, DIP loans, restructured debt, unsecured claims, and royalty and net profit interests. Recently, he has been working closely with development companies in power systems, renewable fuels, carbon capture, and autonomous marine services, including involvement in various complex restructuring situations.

Gerry was most recently Founder and Chief Risk Officer of OneNexus, LLC’s captive insurance company, OneNexus Oklahoma Captive Corporation. While there, he developed and implemented a unique “insured financial contract” to aid companies in effectively managing the balance sheet risk associated with their Decommissioning Obligations, including forming and licensing a multi-cell, A-rated, captive insurance company with reserve-based capital to support up to $1.2 billion of liabilities in partnership with Munich Re. He held previous roles in advisory and asset management with numerous firms including Evolve Transition Infrastructure LP, Sanchez Capital Advisors, Silver Point Capital, MidOcean Partners, Cypress Group, Goldman Sachs, and National City Bank. He has also served on numerous Boards of Directors in multiple industries including Evolve Transition Infrastructure, Biogas Energy Solutions, Great Britain Gas Holdings, Cooper-Standard Automotive, and Stratus Technologies.

Gerry received a BS in Applied Economics and Business Management from Cornell University and a MBA from Wharton. He holds a Series 79 license
